Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to:
- describe and critically discuss central definitions, concepts and theories of leadership;
- explain major leadership approaches and apply them to practical leadership tasks and problems;
- analyze the relationship between leadership and relevant outcomes such as team performance, motivation, commitment and organizational citizenship behavior;
- apply core communication concepts and tools for leadership, including feedback, employee interviews and goal-setting discussions;
- approach conflict situations by applying the principles of the Harvard model of principled negotiation and conflict management;
- assess cultural influences on leadership and explain the role of assessment centers in identifying leadership potential;
- demonstrate an understanding of central theories, concepts and research in strategic management;
- identify and evaluate key strategic challenges in modern economies, including the effects of socio-economic and technological megatrends;
- discuss the objectives, process steps, methods and tools of strategic management;
- apply major strategic concepts and frameworks such as generic strategies, the product life cycle, portfolio models, the 4C concept, PEST analysis, SWOT analysis and the Five Forces model;
- develop and present well-founded recommendations for leadership and strategic challenges in modern organizations.
Content
How can leaders make good decisions, communicate effectively and manage teams in uncertain, digital and fast-changing environments? And how can companies position themselves strategically in times of disruption, AI and global competition? This course combines leadership principles with strategic management and equips students to analyze real organizational challenges, apply relevant frameworks and develop well-founded solutions. Through case studies, role-playing exercises, discussions, and practical exercises, students learn how effective leadership and sound strategy work together in today’s world
